Purple Heart Mounting Day 2010
!cid_001101c8ef6a$98b268a0$0200a8c0@ownerestlff7lp.gif
The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving on or after April 5, 1917 with the U.S. military. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor, New York. With its forerunner, the Badge of Military Merit, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth, the Purple Heart is the oldest award that is still given to members of the U.S. military.

The MTA is proud to be a part of this great event for the past three years. It seems a small sacrifice to give of our time and our talents to say Thank You to some of our Nation's Truest Heroes. To our Purple Heart Friends - words can never express our deepest thanks to each and everyone of you who fought to preserve the freedom and rights we enjoy today and for those who continue to fight for our children of tomorrow. God Bless you all!

Special thanks to each and everyone of our MTA members who came out to support the Purple Heart Mounting Project each and every year. You are a great reflection of what the MTA is all about and all of us here in the MTA are so very grateful and appreciative for all you give to this great cause. Kudos to our Whitetail Taxidermist for 2010: Les Thomas, Scott & Dawn Derenski, Mike Fales, Jim Schofield, Steve Hall, Brian Jones, Steve DeBoer, Terry Weick, Curtis Cook and Bobby Hamilton. Thanks to Curtis Cook, Jim Schofield, Jason Zank & Jodi Schofield for getting the hides skinned, prepped and to the tannery. A huge thank you goes out to Board Member Curtis Cook who took on this project for this year and made it one of the most successful showings to date.

Another shout out to all of the MTA sponsors who support this great project by donating their supplies and services. Special Thanks to:
**H&H Tannery in Mecosta, Mi who tanned all the recipients hides**
**Hilton Eppley Forms for donating the deer mannikins**
**Tohickon Eyes for donating the eyes**
**Derma-Grip for their donation of hide paste**
**AVES for their donation of Critter Clay**
**Steve Hall of Helping Hands Hangar who donated hangars**
**Ohio Taxidermy Supply for the earliners**

Last but not least - Each and every year we have a MTA member who goes out of his way to make this event even more special for our Purple Heart Recipients with his beautiful Purple Heart Plaques he donates to each of the Hunters. His incredible genorisity toward the wounded heroes never goes unnoticed by any of those who participate in this event but most especially by the War Heroes that we honor on this occasion. A heartfelt thank you to Doug Pickel (AZUANT Panels) for your support and commitment to our Purple Heart Mounting Day. It is a privilege to have members like you as part of the MTA family.
