The Michigan Taxidermist Association would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you a project that we have titled, “Dream Makers”. This project was started when a couple of members lost their 11-year-old nephew named Timmy to leukemia. A dream of Timmy’s was to be able to go hunting. But, before he could recognize his dream, he lost his battle with the disease. This couple approached the Michigan Taxidermist Association with an idea, to set up outdoor adventure trips so the terminally ill or physically challenged youth of our great state would be able to fulfill their dreams of hunting and fishing. The Members of the Michigan Taxidermist Association truly believe the youth of our state are our future, and what a better way of showing our beliefs than by helping make the dreams of kids come true.
The “Dream Makers” are a group of members that volunteer their time and energy in organizing outings and taxidermy services for the youth in Michigan. Our focus is strictly on the dreams of terminally ill or physically challenged kids between the ages of 6 and 18. We have compiled a list of highly qualified taxidermist that will put the youth’s trophy top priority and provide an exceptional finished trophy. (We understand that time is at an essence in some of these cases.) We are also working with a number of commercial tanneries to ensure the specimen is properly tanned and cared for before the specimen arrives at a taxidermist studio. The Association with monies or items collected from generous donations of several companies and individuals provides all costs of the hunt, taxidermy services, and clothing. No money is expected or be shall collected from the youth or their family. All the family shall need to do is provide transportation to the arranged location, and provide any medical care necessary.
The Michigan Taxidermist Association truly believes that these children are very special people. Yes, they may have a physical challenge or they may be terminally ill. They are however our children, they should not be just set aside. There are so many things that we can learn from their determination. Together we can all give them at least a little bit of happiness and enjoyment in the time they may have left. The smiles and rewards given back are priceless. The M.T.A. needs your assistance however. If you know of a child, can offer assistance in booking a hunt or donating monies to this great program please contact us at the numbers listed below. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This project can only continue with the support of others like yourself. Together we can all make a child’s dream come true. Remember, these children truly deserve our attention; they are very special people.
Listed here are a couple of names and phone numbers that the “Dream Makers” can be reached if you have any questions or if you are able assist us in this very special project. John Crabb 517-625-5456 or Scott Derenski 989-365-3992. We thank you in advance for your assistance in making these children’s dream come true.
